And Speaking of Sweet Words: How About "Unraveling"??

I've lost track of where I read it in this Fortnight-to-Remember, but I had the strong impression that some MSM outlet went so egregiously far as to talk of the administration "unraveling." It would certainly be an apt - though arguably tardy - observation, but not the sort of thing our Lost Ones of Journalism have seemed to be able to face up to for a number of years now.

The desperate keening sound from the neocons and far right are certainly plaintive. It should not summon any thinking person's support given the incredible history of destructive character-assassination and hysterical crying of "wolf" and "the sky is falling" by these same parties.

As just one example, there is a typical apparently orchestrated program to portray Mr. Libby ("Scooter" - what a cute nickname, ehh? - he must be 13 years old!) as a victim, or even a fall-guy. Come on. The specimen is a villain if ever there was one. Jurors have asked why Rove and others who violated the law to cover up criminal dishonesty and treason at the highest reaches of the White House have not been brought to court, while sympathizing with "Scooter." The big point here is that it was Libby's lying that thwarted the possibility of prosecuting what is apparently a very tough proposition to begin with. He's no martyr, that's for sure. Years in a real prison are what he actually deserves.
